PhBRML: Status, Planning and Unresolved Issues
Status (17 Sep 1998)
- Specs considered beta.
- VRML parser recognizes the extension nodes and is able to correctly
parse the files.
- RenderPark/PhBRML interface implemented, with some restrictions (BSDF at
midpoint of patch is used for radiosity, while one will want to use an
estimate for the average BSDF instead). Result: PhBRML files can be rendered
with RenderPark. First textured image is on the main PhBRML page in the results
section.
Changes (10 Nov 1998)
- Node interface and nodegen code generator completely revised and cleanup
up.
- Procedural nodes have only one field: url.
- Node name changes:
- PhBSurface ---> PhBHomogeneousSurface
- PhBMedium ---> PhBHomogeneousMedium
- PhBSpectralPhaseFunction ---> PhBPhF
- PhBDistortion ---> PhBSurfaceDistortion
- PhB3DDistortion ---> PhBVolumeDistortion
Changes (13 Nov 1998)
- PhBBackgroundRadiation replaced by PhBBackground node super class
with two subclasses:
- PhBTexturedBackground
- PhBProceduralBackground
Unresolved issues (15 Feb 1999)
- Nicer name for the thing?
- Sampled scatterers?
- Check wavelength dependence of quantities characterising homogeneous
participating media (e.g. indexOfRefraction must be function of wavelength
instead of just constant ... are both absorption and scattering cross section
needed and what about their wavelengt dependence??)
