On Friday, October 18th, the First University Conference "Artificial Intelligence ∀" took place at the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science. It gathered nearly 200 participants interested in research and other activities related to artificial intelligence at the University of Wrocław.

The main part of the program consisted of 13 presentations by researchers conducting AI research, utilizing AI tools, or interested in their application. The topics were very broad; the discussions covered current needs, ideas for collaboration, as well as scientific results and already implemented solutions. Research results were presented from fields such as physics, biology, chemistry, computer science, sociology, and historical education. One of the presentations discussed the potential of applying generative AI models to simplify the Polish language, while others explored the prospects of using AI tools in fields like digital musicology and law. A system based on artificial intelligence algorithms, which has been fully implemented and is used by emergency services to search for missing persons, was also demonstrated.

The conference also included a poster session, during which participants had the opportunity to explore selected research results conducted at the University of Wrocław and discuss them with the authors.

The event concluded with a panel discussion titled "Artificial Intelligence — Opportunity or Threat for Science," featuring representatives from medical, legal, biological, and computer sciences. The panel discussion addressed topics related to the current and potential use of artificial intelligence in scientific research, the role of researchers, and the impact of technology on social life. New methodological and ethical challenges emerging in various scientific disciplines as a result of the rapid development and increased availability of AI tools were also outlined.

On the eve of the conference, data analysis workshops were conducted by Paweł Netzel and Jacek Ślopek.

The conference demonstrated that the topic of AI unites researchers from all faculties of our university. In fact, nearly all speakers discussed future collaboration possibilities, which was also one of the main topics of informal conversations.
