The competition is open to persons who meet the conditions set out in the Act of 20 July 2018 Law on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws 2018, item 1668, as amended) and the Statute of the University of Wrocław.

Our distinctive feature is a flexible approach to designing our didactic offer, which is done with the participation of students and IT companies. Our teachers can design and propose their own lectures, projects and seminars. Advanced courses are taught in small groups and we provide our best students with the opportunity to participate in scientific research.

Application requirements from the candidates for the assistant position:

  1. Higher education, at least the Master degree.
  2. Having an open doctoral dissertation.
  3. A candidate without the PhD degree should provide the PhD supervisor opinion stating when the thesis has been (or will be) submitted and if possible, also the reviewers’ reports on the thesis.
  4. Fluency in English, at least B2 level.
  5. Knowledge of the Polish language to the extent that it is possible to conduct classes in this language (if the person selected in the competition will conduct such classes).

Application requirements from the candidates for the assistant professor position:

  1. PhD degree in computer science or in mathematics.
  2. Research achievements published at very good conferences in computer science.
  3. Candidates should also have at least one year of experience of employment, as a post-doc at a good  university, or relevant experience in the high-tech industry. Candidates who do not have such experience must explain, in their application, how they are going to gain it (using unpaid leave granted by The University of Wroclaw). They also need to state, in their application, that they accept that failing to begin their post-doc within two years from  October 1, 2022 will result in negative evaluation.
  4. Activity in applying for grants will be highly assessed.
  5. Fluency in English, at least B2 level.
  6. Knowledge of the Polish language to the extent that it is possible to conduct classes in this language (if the person selected in the competition will conduct such classes).

The duties of a person employed as assistant professor or assistant will include: conducting research, applying funds for research, teaching, participating in organizational work at the Faculty and the University.

  4. A copy of PhD (in the case of assistant professor’s position) or MSc diploma (in the case of assistant’s position).

  6.   7. Self-presentation clearly indicating the candidate achievements, referring separately to the criterion of scientific activity, the criterion of internationalization, the criterion of organizational activity and the criterion of didactic activity.
  8. In case of candidates who have been already employed as an assistant professor, a research plan should be attached, related to the perspectives of obtaining habilitation.
  9. A list of candidate’s publications for a period not exceeding 10 years.
  10. Electronic versions of the candidate’s two most important publications representative of their research, or explanation why they are missing, whereby the Head of the Competition Board reserves the right to request the candidate to submit all or selected publications and/or other documents.
  11. List of names and e-mail addresses of persons to whom additional opinions about the candidate may be requested. Additional opinions of reviewers will be treated as confidential, i.e. available only to members of the Employment Commission.
  12. At least two recommendation letters; from scholars with a post-doctoral degree or the professor title or, in the case of candidates from a country other than Poland, holding positions equivalent to a post-doctoral degree or the professor title, specializing in the field within the candidate area of interest or related thereto. The recommendation letters should be sent by e-mail directly to the Commission Chairman at the following e-mail address: Tomasz.Jurdzinski@uwr.edu.pl, and not be seen by the candidate. The letters are overt only to the Commission members while the candidates abandon the right of access to these letters.

In the curriculum vitae should be added: „I consent to the processing of my personal data for the purposes of organizing and conducting the competition and providing information about the results of the competition. I acknowledge that the administrator of personal data is the University of Wrocław, Plac Uniwersytecki 1, 50-137 Wrocław. I know that the provision of data is voluntary, but necessary to achieve the purposes for which they were collected (in accordance with the Act of May 10, 2018 on the protection of personal data, Journal of Laws of 2018, item 1000) „.

Once the results of the hiring process are announced, the candidates will be asked to submit their original documents.
